Whidbey Island Visit

My cousin Reed, his wife Lisi, and their son Drew are spending the month of July on Whidbey Island at Lisi's family home. They invited us up to visit for the day and we had such a great time. I had only been to Whidbey once before and it was years ago. What a beautiful place! We had a great time hanging on the beach and catching up. Reed is one of my favorite cousins and it was great to see him and his cute family before they move Utah in August. Plus it was fun for our little family to get up early and ride the ferry from Mukilteo. The girls got an ice cream cone and on our way home, we stopped for fish and chips. It was a good day. And good days are worth a whole lot these days.

I think this guy might be getting even more handsome with age!!

Fourth of July Weekend at the Island

We spent a fun-filled four days out at Anderson Island over the fourth.
We were lucky enough to spend it with some of our very best friends - the Marti and Williams' families! Sean's best buddy Bill and his family came down from Bellingham and my best buddy, Heidi, and her family came over from Tacoma. It's always fun for all of us to hang out - it feels very nostalgic. The very first time I met Sean (at a party my sophomore year in college), I was with Heidi and Sean was with Bill. We love to reminisce and laugh about it... crazy that all of these years later, we are all still friends.

Since losing our baby girl, Lexie, at the end of May, it has been a difficult summer to say the least.
It was really therapeutic and refreshing to get away for a few days. Between our three families, we had seven kids who romped around as only kids in the summertime can do. And we romped around with them - we went swimming, had bonfires, watched fireworks, ate too much, drank too much, laughed too much... you get the picture. It was great. I was sad to come home.

Now onto the overabundance of photos from our weekend... some of these were taken with my little point and shoot camera, some with my phone, some with my fancy camera. And some weren't taken by me at all but by one of our kids who happened to be passing by ;)
